A shimmering flash of blue swoops down from the overhanging branch of a Banyan tree that spreads its vast canopy over the quiet pond. This is the realm of the Kingfisher, the bright feathered resident of village waterways.
Its colourful grace is replicated in the décor of our spacious and airy Kingfisher rooms furnished with twin sized beds, a little dining nook, recliner chairs and a dressing table. The furniture, lamp shades and wall hangings are all especially made by local craftsmen. The cosy comforts are complemented by the luxurious bathroom with rain shower. The private patio outside is the spot to relax with your favourite brew, and of course, watch the Kingfishers too.
The scent of Frangipani fill the air. Known locally as Temple Flowers, the sprawling trees in full bloom add to the sense of peace that prevails all around.
At the very heart of a rural Sri Lankan village is the Buddhist temple – a place of refuge, hope and tranquillity. Our Temple cluster rooms pay homage to that spirit of serenity. Each, a haven of space and light, hues of Saffron and White dominate the décor, complementing the furniture crafted by local artisans. Comfy twin sized beds, a little alcove for dining in and a private terrace to enjoy some quiet meditation – all serve to make your room a little sanctuary of rest.
Like a wave of vivid green, the stalks of unripe paddy ripple rhythmically to the gusts of breeze. A ‘watch hut’ hides up in the giant ‘Nuga’ tree with its sprawling branches and entwining roots; underneath, a scarecrow acts as the lone sentinel.
Rice is the lifeblood of rural communities in Sri Lanka, and our Paddy Field clusters recreate this lush environment. The spacious rooms are filled with light, setting off the earthy décor. Farming motifs feature throughout – in the locally handcrafted furniture, wall hangings and the unique lampshades. Twin sized beds, a quaint dining corner and a terrace to savour the rustic surrounds are standard comforts.
